Translation Technique Analysis:
1.      English            : Pour spaghetti into 550 boiled water for 4 minutes
Indonesian      : Masukkan spaghetti ke dalam 550 ml air mendidih selama 4 menit, aduk sesekali
After I analyzed sentence one, I found some techniques that are used. The translation above is using some technique; they are literal, borrowing, and description.
Literal technique in the sentence above is found in “Pour spaghetti into 550 boiled water”. The translation is translated as the meaning of the words itself.
Borrowing technique is found in the word “spaghetti” that is translated still in the form of source language.
amplification technique is found in the translation of 4 minutes that describes as “selama 4 menit, aduk sesekali”. There are addition words “aduk sesekali” that describes what the reader does in 4 minutes.

2.      English            : Take out spaghetti from water, clean well
Indonesian      : Keluarkan spaghetti dari air lalu tiriskan.
After I analyzed sentence two, I found three techniques that are used. The translation of the sentence above is using calque, borrowing and modulation.
The word “take out” that is translated to “keluarkan” is using calque technique. The translator changes the morpheme of the target language that id appropriate.
The word “spaghetti” is using borrowing technique because there is no change in translating the word in the form of source language.
The word “clean well” is translated into “lalu tiriskan” that is using modulation technique. The translator is changed the word into the other word that is more appropriate.

3.      English            : Place on a plate
Indonesian      : Taruh di piring.
After I analyzed sentence two of the second instructions, I found a technique that is used. The translation is using modulation technique that changes the word of the target language into another word that is appropriate. In the word “place” of the sentence above is translated into “taruh”. The Indonesian translation of “place” is “tempat”. It is not appropriate if the translator using another word, “taruh”, that is more appropriate.

4.      English            : Pour sauce into spaghetti
Indonesian      : Tuangkan saus ke spaghetti
After I analyzed third instructions, I found a technique that is used. The translation above is using literal and borrowing technique. Borrowing technique is using in translating the word “spaghetti”. The rest of the words are translated using literal technique because the translator translated the words as is in the target language.

5.      English            : mix well
Indonesian      : aduk hingga merata
After I analyzed sentence two of the third instruction, I found a technique that is used. The translation is using adaptation technique. The translator change the translation of “mix well” that has a meaning “campur dengan baik” into “aduk hingga merata” that is appropriate with Indonesian culture.

6.      English            : serve immediately
Indonesian      : hidangkan selagi hangat.

The translation is using adaptation technique. The translator change the translation of “serve immediately” that has a meaning “hidangkan segera” into “hidangkan selagi hangat” that is appropriate with Indonesian culture.
